HEX2OCT Function Explained

The HEX2OCT Function in Microsoft Excel converts a hexadecimal number to an octal number. It takes one argument, a hexadecimal number, and returns the octal equivalent of that number.

HEX2OCT Function Syntax

HEX2OCT(number, [places])

  • number: The hexadecimal number you want to convert.
  • places: (optional) The number of characters to use. If omitted, the function uses the minimum number of characters necessary.
